AlphaBaby App Reviews

Too much crashing

We have this on the iPad and our 17-month-old quite likes it, so we wanted to try the computer version. Works well and has some nice options, but way too many crashes. Hopefully it can be fixed soon!

Works as stated

Pretty basic but it does what it says. Lets your baby smash the keyboard as much as they want.

does it work?

The screen goes white but no key input is accepted and Prefernce panel is not shown after choosing from Menu.

alpha baby madness

I installed this for my grandchildren but unfortunately it got stuck. I could not use computer all morning until I at last managed to get it off the screen ( I do not really know how) .It drove me mad as nothing was available to stop it, not even Force quit and pulling the electricity only worked for the start up time and then, bang, it came on again! IT IS STILL INSTALLED AS I DO NOT WANT IT TO WAKE UP AGAIN AND GOING ANYWHERE NEAR THE ICON STARTS THE GAME OFF . A pity..

Exactly what I needed

I was hoping for something that would disable EVERY key (including the SLEEP/SHUT DOWN button which is my sons favorite) and speak the names of letters as it wrote them on the screen. Something simple that would protect my computer and even possibly have an educational value. This is perfect, well worth the 99 cents. One caveat: I do wish it had a "random" option for line shapes - you can choose to have the mouse draw circles or squares or ducks or trucks or several other things, but there is no option to have it switch between shapes. Thats the only thing this game doesnt have that I wish it did! Glad I spent the $$. :)

I love it!

This was perfect. My daughter is 3 and I have a puzzle that we use that says the letter and an object that starts with that letter. I needed her to learn the actual letter herself though, and we found this app. In 2 weeks she knows most of her letter. I dont use it as regularly as I should either. Usually only 3 times a week for 10-15 mins. I ask her to find A for apple. She finds it. The best part is that it is toddlerproof. She cant hit things with the mouse and different keys that could open up things or whatever. So its sooooo awesome!! It is Simple. Sometimes you cant find anything simple. So many things that you can buy are so complicated that it doesnt help them learn the basics.

Baby magnet

This app has single handedly made my 10 month old lust for the computer. He happily bangs away on the keyboard as long as well let him. Sometimes I set up Photo Booth in the background recording a movie of him playing. Itll be great when he gets older and we can actually do some learning with it. A steal at 99 cents.

Great app for curious toddlers

I have a 2 year old who jumps on my computer whenever I step away for 2 seconds. This is a great app that allows him to play with my computer without messing anything up…and hes learning! Its great!

Great app, needs an update

Love this app... its exactly as simple and useful as it needs to be. However, my function keys (volume control, itunes playback controls) still work while the app is running. He can even pull up expose and the force quit menu. Please update so these are locked while AlphaBaby is running!

nice one!

my 14-month old daughter loves to sit on my lap and play with this App. Of coure when she makes a particularly noteworthy shape she likes to point it out to me, so after our A/B sessions, i have a million sticky little girl fringerprints on my screen. Hopefully you can solve that in the next relase. Thanks again--we love this.

Great, except top row isnt disabled

The app works exactly as it is supposed to, except that the top row isnt disabled. Thats not a huge deal since you cant do anything except change the sound, brightness, and play iTunes, but it would be nice if they disabled every key. The options you can set are very nice.

Mostly good

My 2yo loves this app but very quickly we had some problems with the function buttons. Music playing, launchpad opening. These should be locked too! Luckily my 2 yo will tell me every single time one of those things happens because she knows its not how it should be. I give this app a 4 star because it is good. Great customization (no sounds if I get sick of listening to it) or any other number of things. There are two things that I can see that can make it a 5 star: lock the function buttons and give a choice for the click and drag function to be random (you have a random choice for just about everything else, why not this one?). Ill definitely update my rating if I see an update that will lock the function keys.

Constant Crashing after Update

This was a great app for the little one, but not this latest version. My daughter will play for a while and then it will crash. Guaranteed crash every single time. So annoying. Hopefully theyll get this fixed as the previous version I gave 5 stars. This update is completely useless and a total disappointment. Looking elsewhere now for something that is stable.

Please!!

I am sooo happy you disabled ALL keys.. Thank you soooo much!!.. I only have one complaint.. I am getting a crash now that i wasnt getting before.. it started with the new version that that has all keys disabled.. basically when every the baby presses too many keys (like 10 all at the same time) it crashes.. i am able to reproduce pretty consistently.. please fix.. Thanks so much!!!..

Wonderful little app

My two year old loves this app. The only complaint I have is that it crashes often, at times every one or two minutes, other times it may run for ten minutes. I really like how it integrates the keys and is a full screen app that allows my daughter to play without accessing the desktop or any other apps. I would give it five stars if it didnt crash so often.

Love It, But Crashes

My daughter LOVES this app. And with a little luck shell bang on my laptop hard enough to justify a getting a new one! However, I get crashing issues every time we use the app. I would rate this much, much higher if there were no crashing issues.

Crashes defeat the purpose

This would be a 5 star app without the crashes.

Crashes a _lot_

Would be great but crashes constantly.

Perfect with one exception

My 2.5 year old loves this game. Shes been playing it for months, and now she knows all her capital letters, and is starting on the "baby" ones. (If we are using our PC, she plays "Babysmash" instead, which was deliberately copied from AlphaBaby in order to share the joy.) The only problem I have is that you have no access to a mute key when the program is active. Therefore, if you fall asleep in a hotel room with the computer still set to AlphaBaby, you have to audibly go through the escape sequence (q-u-i-t) at whatever volume you were playing at. This effectively locked me out of using my computer after the kid fell asleep a number of times on a recent trip. Other than that, the program is smooth and crisp and worth all 99 pennies the developers are asking.

twins love it

what a great app! Finally, a safe environment for my 20 month old twins to type and explore EVERY button on the computer without making trouble. Even the power button on my macbook is inactive! Icing on the cake is the ability to add my own photos and custom sounds to everything making it the ultimate teaching tool. I dont usualy spend money on apps but I would pay even more for this one. Thank you so much! can you make one for my dish washer? ;-)
